Fireside conversation

Your host walks Anthony through the parts of his story that fit your event, from going undrafted to speaking up in the 2020 huddle. Then the audience asks its own questions.

Keynote

Ready When Called

Anthony tells the story behind the title: the captain who played hurt, the undrafted rookie on the practice squad, three seasons as a backup, then 2019. Along the way he stops on the four ideas he comes back to and shows what each looked like on an ordinary day.

Half-day session

Read the Field

Half a day with your managers on leading under pressure: staying composed, communicating clearly and making the call. He learned it at the back of an NFL defense, and linebacker Eric Kendricks saw it in Anthony’s first NFL game: he could “communicate on the field and be calm in certain situations.”

Program

The Understudy

A program for the people you expect to step up next, shaped with you around the roles they’re moving into. Anthony works with them on what got him ready behind Harrison Smith: studying the person ahead of them, asking questions, and preparing each week as if their number will be called.

Companies and events

Your company has people doing one job while they learn the next. Anthony spent three seasons in that seat, studying the starter’s reps, and was ready when the job opened in 2018. He speaks to those people, and to the managers who lead them, about preparation, composure and making the call under pressure.

Schools and youth

Anthony knows what one visit can do, because one changed his path. He tells that story at his free camps in Richmond, where he also talks to kids about school, self-discipline and being a good teammate. In 2024, at Edward T. Steel School in Philadelphia, he told the students, “If you want to accomplish something, it’s really up to you.”

Teams

Anthony has been a practice-squad player, a backup, a starter and a captain, and he talks to all of them. In July 2025 he spoke to the Virginia football team, across the walkway from the older building where he once sat and listened to a guest speaker. He told them, “Be the best in your individual role, because we all have a role.”

Prepare for the role before it’s yours.

His words: “Continuing to put myself in a position to stay ready if an opportunity comes up.”

To Vikings.com, November 2017

His first NFL game was a start, filling in for an injured Harrison Smith. Midway through 2018, another starter’s injury gave him the job. Neither call came with much warning, and in between, he described his approach as “staying patient, staying positive, continuing to be a team guy.”

Do what you’re supposed to do, when you’re supposed to do it.

His words: “When you don’t do what you’re supposed to do when you’re supposed to do it, bad things happen.”

To the Virginia football team, July 2025

It’s a saying Anthony and his friends share. He uses it to explain what “take advantage of the moment” means day to day: the early workout, the meeting, the sprint at 100% instead of 80%.

Tell yourself the truth.

His words: “You cannot get better from lies.”

To the Virginia football team, July 2025

Anthony told the Virginia team plainly that not all of them would make the NFL. You can lie to yourself about the work, he said, but the opportunity will show the truth. Confidence, in his words, comes from “knowing you did what you were supposed to do when you were supposed to do it.”

Know the people beside you.

His words: “He got to trust me, and I got to trust him.”

To the Virginia football team, July 2025

At Virginia, Anthony mostly spent time with the players he came in with, until he started hanging out with linemen he barely knew. If he was going to depend on a man for four quarters, he wanted to know who that man was, and he wanted that man to know him.
